Contend for the Faith
“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.” – Jude v.3
Jude originally planned to write about the joy of salvation but felt a pressing need to warn believers to contend for the faith. This means actively defending and standing firm in the truth of the gospel against false teachings and opposition.
The faith we hold was "once for all entrusted" to God’s people. It is unchanging and does not need to be modified or adapted to fit cultural trends. Instead, we are called to guard it, live it, and boldly proclaim it.
Contending for the faith is not about being argumentative or harsh, but about being rooted in God’s Word, discerning truth from error, and standing firm in Christ. It requires courage, wisdom, and reliance on the Holy Spirit.
Life Application: Are you prepared to defend your faith? Strengthen your knowledge of Scripture and ask God for boldness to stand firm in His truth with love and grace.
Prayer Points:
Pray for strength and wisdom to stand firm in biblical truth.
Ask God to help you discern false teachings and remain faithful to His Word.
