God Meant It for Good
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” —Genesis 50:20
Joseph’s words to his brothers are some of the most powerful in all of Scripture. Betrayed, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned—Joseph had every reason to grow bitter. Yet, when given the chance for revenge, he chose grace. Why? Because he saw the hand of God in his suffering.
What others meant for evil, God repurposed for redemption. Joseph's pain was not wasted; it was transformed into a platform for salvation. Through his trials, lives were saved, and God’s purposes were fulfilled.
This verse speaks directly into our own struggles. We all face moments when others' actions wound us deeply. But for the believer, even pain is never purposeless. God is sovereign over every chapter of our lives. He doesn't cause evil—but He can take what was meant to destroy us and use it for our good and His glory.
Like Joseph, we are called to trust God in the dark seasons and look for His hand behind the scenes. When we surrender our hurt to Him, He can write a redemption story we never imagined.
Prayer Points:
Lord, help me to trust Your plan even when I face betrayal or hardship.
Teach me to forgive those who have wronged me, as Joseph forgave.
Use my pain for Your purposes and to bless others for Your glory.
