“Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” — Genesis 18:14
God spoke these words to Abraham after Sarah laughed in disbelief at the promise of bearing a child in her old age. From a human perspective, it was impossible. Her body was beyond the age of childbearing. But God’s question echoes through time: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”
This wasn’t just a rhetorical question—it was a reminder of who God is. He is not bound by natural laws or human limitations. What we see as impossible is well within His power. Whether it’s opening a barren womb, softening a hardened heart, or making a way through what seems like a dead end—nothing is too difficult for the Lord.
Sarah's doubt is often our own. We believe God in general—but when it comes to our specific situations, we hesitate. We wonder if He really can, or if He really will. But Genesis 18:14 calls us to trust Him fully, knowing that His timing is perfect and His power is limitless.
Are you facing something that feels impossible? Trust the God of the impossible.
