Our Ever-Present Help
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” – Psalm 46:1-2
Life is full of uncertainties. Storms come unexpectedly, foundations shake, and circumstances beyond our control threaten our peace. In these moments, fear can overwhelm us. But Psalm 46 reminds us of a powerful truth—God is our refuge and strength. He is not distant or unaware; He is an ever-present help in trouble.
No matter what crisis we face—whether personal struggles, financial hardship, illness, or global unrest—God remains our shelter. The imagery of mountains falling into the sea represents utter chaos, yet the psalmist declares we will not fear. Why? Because God is bigger than any disaster. He is immovable when everything else crumbles.
Trusting in God as our refuge doesn’t mean we won’t face hardship, but it does mean we are never alone. His presence is constant, His strength is limitless, and His protection is sure. When fear rises, we can choose faith. When the world shakes, we can stand firm in the One who never changes.
