Peace with God
“Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;” — Romans 5:1
Romans 5:1 declares one of the greatest blessings of salvation: peace with God. Before Christ, humanity stood guilty because of sin, separated from a holy God. But through Jesus, everything changes. Those who are “justified by faith” are declared righteous in God’s sight—not because of their own goodness, but because of Christ’s finished work on the cross.
This peace is not merely an inner feeling of calm, though it certainly brings comfort. It is first a restored relationship with God. The hostility caused by sin has been removed. The believer no longer stands condemned, but welcomed and reconciled.
Notice that this peace comes “through our Lord Jesus Christ.” There is no peace with God apart from Him. Jesus alone bridges the gap between sinful people and a holy God.
In a restless world filled with anxiety, conflict, and uncertainty, this truth gives lasting security. Circumstances may change, but the believer’s standing before God remains secure because it rests on Christ, not human performance.
Life Application:
When fear or guilt troubles your heart, remember that your peace with God is rooted in Christ’s work, not your own efforts. Rest in the assurance that you have been reconciled to God through faith in Jesus.
Prayer Points:
Thank God for giving you peace through Jesus Christ.
Ask Him to help you rest in the assurance of salvation.
Pray for a heart that trusts Christ rather than your own efforts.
