Planted by the Water
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” —Jeremiah 17:7–8
Jeremiah draws a vivid picture of a life rooted in trust. The one who places their full confidence in the Lord is described not as fragile or anxious—but as a flourishing tree, unshaken by harsh conditions.
This trust is not passive. It's active, deeply rooted, and continually drawing from the living water of God’s presence. When heat (trials) and drought (hardship) come, the tree doesn’t wither. It thrives, bears fruit, and remains vibrant—because its source is not in circumstances, but in the Lord.
In a culture that promotes self-reliance, this passage calls us back to divine dependence. Trusting in God doesn’t remove life’s challenges, but it transforms how we endure them. A life planted in Him will be marked by stability, growth, and fruitfulness—even in barren seasons.
If you feel dry, anxious, or weary today, go back to the stream. Plant yourself in His Word, in prayer, and in faith. His provision never runs dry.
