Return and Be Revived
“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence. Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth." —Hosea 6:1–3
Hosea calls the people of Israel—and us today—to repentance with the tender assurance of God’s restorative grace. Though discipline may come, it is never without purpose. God wounds to heal, not to destroy. His goal is always restoration, not rejection.
These verses shine with hope: revival and restoration are promised to those who return. “He will heal us... He will bind up our wounds.” God’s mercy is as certain as the rising sun and the seasonal rains. His presence brings life, nourishment, and renewal.
This passage foreshadows the resurrection, pointing to the “third day” when Christ rose to bring eternal healing. When we truly acknowledge God—seeking Him with our hearts—we encounter His faithfulness anew.
If you feel distant, broken, or dry, this is the invitation: Come back. Press on. He is waiting, not with wrath, but with mercy.
