The God Who Never Changes
"I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed." — Malachi 3:6
In a world defined by change—shifting cultures, unstable economies, and unpredictable relationships—it is deeply reassuring to know that God does not change. This declaration in Malachi comes at a time when Israel had wandered yet again from God’s ways. Still, He reminds them that His covenant, His character, and His compassion remain constant.
God’s unchanging nature is not just a theological truth; it’s a source of everyday strength. If God changed like we do, we could never trust His promises. But because He is immutable, we can rest in His Word. His justice, mercy, love, and patience today are the same as they were yesterday—and they will be tomorrow.
The descendants of Jacob—like us—deserved judgment, yet they were not destroyed. Why? Because God keeps His covenant. He is faithful even when we are not. His unchanging nature preserves us, forgives us, and invites us back time and time again.
Life Application:
When you feel uncertain or unstable, remember God’s immutability. Anchor your hope not in how you feel, but in who He is. Return to Him, and rest in the security of His never-changing grace.
Prayer Points:
Praise God for being unchanging and completely trustworthy.
