The Lord’s Blessing Over You
“‘The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.’” – Numbers 6:24-26
These verses, often referred to as the Aaronic blessing, are among the most beloved benedictions in Scripture. Spoken by God through Moses to Aaron and his sons, this blessing expresses God's heart toward His people. Each phrase is rich with divine intention and personal care.
“The Lord bless you and keep you” speaks of God’s provision and protection. He is not distant or indifferent—He is the One who actively cares for His children, shielding them from harm and providing for every need.
“The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you” evokes the image of God's favor and delight. His shining face is a sign of approval, much like a father beaming at his child. His grace follows—unearned kindness and favor that flows freely from His love.
“The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace” reveals God’s intimate attention and the deep peace only He can give. It’s not the fleeting calm the world offers, but a soul-level shalom—wholeness and rest.
