The Patience of God
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:8-9
Peter reminds us of God’s eternal perspective. While we may grow impatient, thinking God’s promises are delayed, He sees time differently. His "slowness" is not a failure to act but a reflection of His mercy. God’s delay is purposeful—He is giving humanity time to repent and turn to Him.
This passage highlights God’s heart for the lost. He desires everyone to come to repentance and receive salvation. His patience is a demonstration of His love, providing opportunities for people to hear the gospel and respond.
For believers, this truth calls us to trust God’s timing and embrace His mission. We are invited to share His heart for the lost, praying for and reaching out to those who do not yet know Him.
Life Application: Are there people in your life who need to know Christ? Pray for them and ask God to use you to share His love and truth with them. Trust His timing in your life and in His ultimate plans.
