"Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” — 2 Chronicles 20:12
King Jehoshaphat was facing a terrifying situation: a vast army was advancing against Judah. Humanly speaking, he had no strategy, no strength, and no certainty of survival. His response, however, models true faith. Instead of panicking or leaning on human wisdom, he turned his eyes to the Lord.
In our own lives, we often encounter "vast armies"—challenges that seem insurmountable, decisions that confuse us, or situations that simply feel too heavy to carry. Like Jehoshaphat, we may find ourselves saying, "We do not know what to do." And yet, that admission is not defeat—it's a doorway to divine dependence.
The power of this verse lies in its posture of surrender and focus. When we shift our gaze from our problem to our Provider, peace replaces panic. God doesn’t require us to have all the answers. He calls us to trust Him, especially when we don't.
Life Application: Next time you feel overwhelmed, remember this verse. Pause. Pray. Set your eyes on the Lord. His wisdom, strength, and timing are perfect.
Prayer Points:
Lord, help me to admit my need and depend fully on You.
Teach me to keep my eyes fixed on You, not on my fears.
Strengthen my faith to trust You even when I don't understand the path ahead.
