Working Out What God is Working In
"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose." — Philippians 2:12-13
Paul encourages believers to “work out” their salvation—not because salvation depends on works, but because it’s a gift that transforms our daily lives. To “work out” our salvation means to live it fully, allowing its impact to shape our actions, decisions, and relationships. This process requires effort, humility, and a genuine reverence for God, acknowledging that the journey of faith is serious and calls for diligence.
However, Paul quickly reminds us that we are not alone in this work. God is at work within us, empowering us to desire and to do what pleases Him. He shapes our hearts, our motivations, and our actions for His purpose. Our role is to be responsive, leaning on His strength to live out the faith we profess.
Consider today: How is God working in your heart and life? Is there an area where He is calling you to grow or serve? Embrace His guidance with a willing heart, knowing that He is both the source of our strength and the finisher of our faith.
